Months ago I posted (great for those with a GPS on their blackberry or iphone). You can search by distance, lowest fat, lowest calories or lowest carbs. I don’t recommend distance unless you are so hungry that your shoes look appetizing – apparently the best thing closest to me today is the jelly donut at 7-Eleven.

Well, here is another worthwhile web-based tool: You can sort by price range, service type (take-out, delivery, catering) and mileage you want to walk, run, bike, drive etc. This website and the one I mentioned above are not comprehensive (they rely on restaurants joining their program) but when you are on the road they can come in handy. Especially if your hotel concierge’s idea of “healthy food nearby” consists of battered, smothered chicken with a side of butter soaked veggies.

  1. Those who count "net carbs" (which is not a FDA recognized term) will subtract indigestible fiber. If you are a diabetic, it is important to talk to the dietitian who you are working with on your plan to determine what if any fiber should be included in your carb counting.
