Today I was shocked, surprised, stunned, you name it. And, I have to say that happens very rarely. I’ve looked at the calories in more foods than I can name, reviewed thousands of diet records and analyzed hundreds of recipes. So I can pretty much predict the calorie range of various foods with a high degree of accuracy (this does come in useful when looking over someone’s diet).
But a colleague of mine sent me the posted nutrition info for CPK and my favorite menu item – the lettuce wraps with chicken, as seemingly healthy choice, weighed in at 912 calories. A field green salad with Dijon balsamic vinegrette? 1372 calories. Heck, you could get a key lime pie for just over 800 calories (though of course you get little nutrition value).
What’s the lesson here? If you are dieting (or trying to gain weight for that matter), check out the nutrition info on line before you go. CPK’s can be found at: http://www.cpk.com/menu/pdfs/main-dessert-nutritional-menu.pdf
I’m still eating my lettuce wraps when I go… I can never finish them anyway.
